Pros
- Offers every field of engineering I could ever be interested in, including operations research and environmental engineering
- Great school with great opportunities—it’s located in Manhattan, which is a bustling city for business and international relations, which are two of my interests outside of engineering.
Cons
- I don’t like cold weather, and Columbia does have a snowy winter season
- Does not have an undergrad business program, which is one thing I'm looking for.
Extracurricular: I would like to continue my work on yearbook at Columbia, and one of their clubs is yearbook. Click here to go to the Columbia Yearbook site. |

Cons
- Not as flexible as other schools with taking classes in multiple schools
- Not located in the greatest neighborhood, as it is right outside the city

Pros
- Like Columbia, Michigan offers a variety of majors in engineering
- Has an undergraduate business school. The academics at Michigan are very strong and range from Chinese to art, so I’m bound to find something I love studying
Cons
- Located just south of the Great Lakes in Ann Arbor Michigan, it's one of the coldest schools I am applying to
- About an eight hour drive from Potomac
Extracurricular: Michigan’s Greek life involves about 4,000 students within 4 councils. I am very interested in joining a sorority in college, and Michigan is a great place to do it! Click here to get more info on Michigan's Greek Life. |
